Position Overview
The 451 Group is a technology industry analyst company focused on the business of emerging enterprise information technologies. It provides subscription-based, syndicated analysis services to technology vendors, investors and end users, delivered via the Web.
The Account Manager role is a phone-based, inside sales position, working from The 451 Group's New York City 'Flatiron' location. It reports to the Vice President of Research Services. This position requires a dynamic, independent individual who has a proven record of closing, via phone, 4 to 8 new B2B sales per month of subscription-based services. It requires a flexible, creative individual who clearly enjoys phone-based sales, who has strong communication skills, who has some past technology industry exposure, and who is experienced in generating as well as responding to leads with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Target and close a consistent volume of monthly account sales – over time growing this base through annual renewals and account upgrades
- Maintain daily direct contact with sales prospects and existing clients via phone and email in response to research published by the company's analysts or in response to inbound information inquiries from them
- Develop and update pipelines, closely manage sales cycles and produce accurate forecasts
- Review on a daily basis the company's latest published research to stay current, as well as constantly review IT industry news sites, research reports and blogs to maintain strong awareness of industry developments and to identify new sales opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
- Between 2 and 4 years of experience in information technology industry sales and/or syndicated business information services/market intelligence subscription sales
- Strong, creative communication skills – both written and verbal – and excellent organization skills
- Proven ability to close phone-based sales in a timely fashion
- Ability to make cold calls
- Ability to speak on a credible basis with enterprise computing industry executives, investors and end users
- Clear success and experience working as part of a 50-person, growth-stage organization, and understanding of both the opportunities and challenges facing such an organization are preferred.
