Robert Deane leads the enterprise security practice at the451. In this position, he provides strategic market intelligence on key aspects of the information security industry, such as authentication, identity management, firewalls, digital rights management, intrusion detection systems and virtual private networks.
In his role, he writes regular syndicated research as well as conducting analyst inquiry sessions with the451's client base of technology vendors, corporate and government end users, institutional investors and venture capitalists. He is also charged with insuring that security considerations permeate all the451's research, spanning software, hardware, mobile and networking products and technologies.
Prior to joining the451, Robert developed the Internet security practice at the global business intelligence firm Datamonitor. During his tenure, his market analysis and briefs shaped the industry's response to mobile/wireless security, network security, email and Web filtering, antivirus/firewalls and regulatory and privacy issues.
As an established expert in data security, Robert is widely quoted in leading international publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Economist, Business Week, mBusiness and Information Security. He has addressed the Institute for Defense Analysis, Internet Wireless World West and RSA's annual conferences, in addition to many other public speaking engagements and client forums in the US and Europe.
Robert holds an MBA degree, concentrating in international business, from Fordham University in New York, and a BA degree in sociology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
